Each February, Restoration Exchange Omaha leads a pack of enthusiastic preservationists on a “heart bombing” mission. The group’s target – once proud structures that continue to degrade while the world moves on around them. The intent is twofold: to draw awareness to buildings that have fallen off the radar screen and prevent needless demolitions. The activity was created by a preservation group in Buffalo, New York, and has been adopted by communities across the United States.

The 2018 event will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, at AO*, and the public is cordially invited to join in on the fun. Participants can make hearts from 10:00 to 11:00am, and the heart bombing itself will occur between 11:00am and noon. The event will conclude with a brief after party. Look for details in the next issue of RExchange, and get inspired by watching this video from last year’s event!
