Donors on Giving Tuesday allocated $1,500 to Restoration Exchange Omaha, enough to start the process to locally landmark two buildings on South 10th Street. On Tuesday, Nov. 29, the Cornish Mansion and the White House Apartments were the beneficiaries of 36 generous donors.
Joel N. Cornish built the Cornish Mansion in 1886. Arnie Breslow has worked for more than 20 years to restore the mansion, which has been converted to apartments. Just north of the Cornish Mansion are the White House Apartments at 1240 S. 10th St. The structure was built as a single-family home and served for a time as the Lutheran Old People’s Home before being converted to apartments.
