The 2016 REO Fall Neighborhood Tour will feature the Aksarben neighborhood Sunday, Oct. 2, from noon to 5 p.m.

The 10-site tour includes a mix of Bungalow, Craftsman, Tudor Revival and Spanish Colonial-style homes in the Aksarben neighborhood (Leavenworth to the north, Center Street to the south, 50th Street to the east and 72 Street to the west) as well as several “garden walk-worthy” backyard gardens.

Tickets are $15 each or two for $25. If you’re an REO member, the cost is $10 each or two for $15. If you become a 2017 REO member at the tour, your ticket is free! The tour sites feature incredible architectural details and hardware.

Tickets include a tour booklet filled with a history of the tour sites, the neighborhood, and the former racetrack and coliseum operated by the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben. University of Nebraska at Omaha honors students conducted the research along with volunteer Scott Hoffman. The tour route is 2.6 miles—you can walk, bicycle, drive or take a free shuttle to the locations.

The tour is sponsored by the American Institute of Architects, Omaha Chapter, and is made possible by a grant from the Midtown Neighborhood Alliance.
