4 OmahaGives2016-Profile-OGContributions to Restoration Exchange Omaha on May 25 during Omaha Gives! will help match a grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation to write nominations to locally landmark structures at 11th and Douglas streets.

This is the fourth year for Omaha Gives!, the annual fundraising campaign powered by the Omaha Community Foundation, and REO has participated in all of them.

You can schedule your donation any time between now and May 25. Each donation of $10 or more helps Restoration Exchange Omaha move up the leaderboard to qualify for bonus funds and other prizes.

REO would like to protect the Happy Hollow Coffee, Marshall Paper and T.H. Smith Co. buildings at 11th and Douglas with local landmark status. The Christian Specht Building is the only building at 11th and Douglas that is both a local and national landmark.

Just over one hundred buildings in Omaha have been granted local landmark status. The city enacted the process and created the Landmarks Heritage Preservation Commission in 1980 to protect, enhance and perpetuate structures, districts and elements of historical, cultural and architectural significance. Your contribution will help finance the required
research and documentation to add more buildings to the local landmark list, thereby helping to ensure that more of Omaha’s built past remains for future generations.

REO will welcome friends and supporters at the Storz Mansion May 25 to celebrate Omaha Gives! The mansion is located at 37th and Farnam. Enjoy drinks, hors d’oeuvres and conversation with fellow preservation lovers from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Your hosts, Wayne and Rhonda Stuberg, will answer any questions you have about the Storz Mansion. A giving station will be available for anyone who would like to contribute, though no admission or contribution is necessary to attend.

Omaha Gives! is a 24-hour online giving event organized by the Omaha Community Foundation to grow philanthropy in Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties. The goal is to inspire the community to come together for 24 hours to give as much as possible to support the work of nonprofits in the metro. The minimum donation is $10, and there is no maximum.
